About Panama gate-
Panama papers are 11.5 million leaked documents providing financial information about more than 214,488 offshore entities. These documents belongs to Panama law firm and their corporate service provider mossack fonseca that were leaked by an anonymous sources, in 2015. Some even dates back to 1970's.
This leak is regarded by some as the biggest data leak of history which exposes a lot of people from various spheres of life having an illegal entities outside their countries called as tax heavens. Among some influential people were the politicians, their family, their close associates from around the world, big business tycoons as others.
One such influential name is current Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif. Recently supreme court of Pakistan had formed a JIT(Joint Investigation Team) to look into the matters pertaining to the papers in lieu of Pak PM Nawaz Sharif. Now, that the JIT has finally submitted its report and observe some serious misdoings on the part of Nawaj sharif. We try to understand what it means for India if Pak PM proved guilty of the charges.
What it meant for India
As the elections in Pak are due in a year, this political crisis will give the all-powerful Pak army an upper hand in its policy towards India and Afghanistan. With Imran khan led Tehreek-e-Insaf party not having substantial mass support at ground level and a relative low figure in Pak parliament this will further empower army. If this happens a further deterioration in Indo-Pak, ties cannot be ruled out with weakening of political class and army institution gaining strength.
What comes as a relief to India is recent passage of three legislative amendments in US house of representatives which are meant to impose a tougher condition on reimbursement of Defence funding to Pakistan.
Pakistan which has been instrumental in abetting and sponsoring anti India and anti Afghan terror Groups for decade has to show a satisfactory progress in its fight against terrorism if they want to have fund released swiftly. As the Sharif's Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has rejected the findings of JIT(Joint Investigation Team) all eyes are on Supreme Court when it announced its verdict on Panama papers Scandal.
Our take -
Kashmir still is an unfinished chapter since 1947 and Pak army still seeks revenge for the defeat it face in 1971. India is quite aware of the fact that weakening of political class in Pakistan means a tougher anti-India posturing by Army with tensions along the LOC(Line of Control) and terror plots. This means a more sincere and alert India to fight the proxies that has always been the weapon of Pak army since 1990's even after the set back of 1999.
